what wills us on after the time skin starts to crease fabric of lines? i will still laugh foothills of rhyme anglers of joy cast out their lines and what will we know born from the fire as smoke? i’ll hold a place deep deep inside for all the hopes i hope to hide stay here in fear i’ll be right here when fear is done lay in the sun and what will we know now that our bodies are grown? where once my footsteps scattered in place a line of passage my feet have traced and what will we know born from the fire as smoke?

oh, virginia i wanted your children but the blackness of my lungs and my heart kept me wheezing a lovelorn spirit lingers on like a light in the dark oh, california my lust turns to kindling my palace of fakers of hot, boiling dust and oh, texas in aquamarine deep muck all exalted we’ll never be clean and oh, virginia you’ll still be the first with last humble breath erotic with thirst i’ll dream dreams of wonder of hope and of light and oh, virginia i’ll make you my wife
3.
thought of a life once lusted for now i can’t tell what the lusting was for badger and heave the body’s reprieve lashed to our memory’s penchant to grieve o’er the grass we wander in leave our bodies to the wind here with memories extending thoughts aloft on dreams while tending to the bodies we will dwell our lifetimes in seems that we’ve had buyer’s remorse loves we’ve abandoned on youth’s heady course spent a whole night bunked in the trees fingers and toes rotten hearts and scraped knees in the dark we waded in naked bodies left to swim in the warmth of nights unending crack the rails with skulls defending blurry brains that swell and trouble there within loot, thieve, and run my story’s spun yarns by the yards just like everyone relief once found in long love’s recourse brave is the one who succombs to its force for the care i deign to spurn wait for other cheeks to turn carve a path that winds unending while i while away pretending that the thief inside was lost out in the burn

and yet it moves across the floor and yet it moves our hearts once more and yet it feels like a lot still remains and yet it moves it moves all the same cheer me right on trash the bygone impending doom ain’t no match for a light on say what you like about modern ways apportion the hope apportion the blame a radiant fire and a soft quiet pain and yet it moves like dust before rain

about

"Dustups" continues Body Surfer’s exploration of intimacy and personal history, creating narratives that are set against environmental collapse and political turmoil. "Dustups" speaks to the internal and external crises that define and confine us. “Anglers of Joy” reflects on aging, fear, and the burdens we take on from our parents. “Palace of Fakers” is a romantic cowboy ballad, sung by a narrator whose body is devastated by environmental destruction. A meditation on regret, love, and memory, “Buyer’s Remorse” reaches back into one’s personal history in the hopes of finding evidence of change. Ethereal strings linger on the periphery before disintegrating into silence. The final track, “…and yet it moves”, seeks hope amidst the impending doom that lingers in the previous tracks - a shining light against the gloom.
